Default Trailer wire frustration

Greetings,

I just bought a new (2002) travel trailer. Can't
Get it home legally/safely. Truck lights all work great. New 7 pin pigtail tested good.
After hours of troubleshooting,
7 pin not getting power from passenger tail light .
Which means no electric brakes,or right directional.

Should I replace taillight harness? Anyone know where to get one?

clarify???

do you have a trailer brake controller?
truck/trailer lights don't activate the trailer brakes..

Brand new brake controller.

Trailer company stopped hookup process when lights wouldn't work.

They said they can run desperate wires for brake light for $110 hr.
Maybe 2 hours labor.
That's when I got frustrated and said I'll be back.
So I really haven't had the chance to test the trailer brakes yet. But because of liability they would not let me drive away with my trailer.

Go to a Ford dealer.

Have them install Ford's brake controller and the 7 pin.

May cost you more, but it should work, and Ford's built-in brake controller is waaay better than any aftermarket.

EDIT: I'm assuming you have a later model Ford that supports Ford's brake controller.

Yes,
I drive a 2007 supercrew.
I am surprised this camper dealership installed a brake controller & and didn't test it thru the 7 pin.

Just went thru same issue this weekend and after some great threads here on F150, found out it to be just a bad ground. Check for it. Very simple and easy fix. Hope it helps.

Have you checked the fuses? Those trucks have separate fuses for trailer turn signals, including left and right. Same applies for electric brake. Do you know if it came with a factory 7pin on the back?

Well folks thanks for all the great advise.

Sorry to say but yesterday I'm sitting at a red light and I got rear-ended.

I'm ok, But it looks like the least of my worries is a broken ground wire.
We're talking new bumper,tailgate,even buckled my left rear panel.and of course trailer 7 pin & wiring. &$&$&$&$??????
Looks like I'm going to ford.
I am fully insured, And I pay extra for non-insured motorists.
And I got rear-ended by An uninsured older woman.

Looks like I won't be towing my new camper for a little while.
Camping in the back yard....that's okay
