Default Trailer jack question

When you guys have a trailer hooked up to your truck what is the optimal height to have the trailer Jack when you are traveling down the road?
My trailer Jack came with what looks like just a flat piece of metal to act like a footprint.
I purchased a wheel for the trailer Jack so I can move the trailer around more easily. I noticed that whenever I had the trailer Jack turned all the way up the distance from the ground to the bottom of the wheel was approximately 6" to 8".
Am I going to be looking for problems with the wheel so close to the ground or should I be good to go?

The bottom of my WDHitch sometimes hits pavement when leaving gas stations etc. I have lots of clearance otherwize since its 4x4. 6" to 8" goes away quickly on a steep ramp that meets a level highway. I myself wouldn't do it.....

Those wheels are usually easy to take off/on.
I'd remove it when travelling and put it back on when needed.

if you're using a weight distribution system, the jack foot has to be higher than your WD bars or risk interference. Without WD system, then it just needs to be high enough to not touch the ground on any kind of grade.

If you bend that jackshaft you may not be able to raise or lower power jack.

I always remove the wheel and crank the jack all the way up. Better safe than sorry.

Seriously? That takes about 30 seconds. PITA is when you jack is bent and you are hung up trying to get out of a gas station.
