trailer electrical problems

hello everyone. i have a 2001 f150 with the tow package. i just got a boat and trailer. when i turn on the driving lights the lights light up like normal until i press the brakes, then they all go out. then when i put on the turn signals, the hazards come on. i'm really lost looking for any help. thanks
lights are +12 volts Brakes and +12volts so no current flows. The turn signal on the trailer lights will be off when the truck turn light is on when there is a ground problem. If the lights are all wired to a common ground wire check the ground point on the wire. If they are like most remove each light and clean the mounting contacts as this how they ground. Also check the main ground usually a screw in the frame near the hitch on the trailer.
