Clearly sounds like a ground problem. The lights go off when the brake is depressed because the light circuit is grounding back thru the brake circuit.
lights are +12 volts Brakes and +12volts so no current flows. The turn signal on the trailer lights will be off when the truck turn light is on when there is a ground problem. If the lights are all wired to a common ground wire check the ground point on the wire. If they are like most remove each light and clean the mounting contacts as this how they ground. Also check the main ground usually a screw in the frame near the hitch on the trailer.
