Sounds to me like the controller is working.

So the trailer brakes must be the problem?

Oh. So the brake controller and trailer brakes are working fine.

It's just that the truck's display does not tell you that the trailer is connected?

That's pretty strange. And I have no idea what's up. I wonder if you took it back to the dealer and asked them to re-flash it ... free of charge. Sounds like the flash didn't work right ... somehow.

I'd try a different trailer to see if it acts the same. The connectors can be finicky. ..

I don't really know which pin the controller uses to detect the trailer.

It's obviously not the brake controller. Which makes sense as it should detect smaller trailers without brakes. And so it's also probably not the battery charge pin as not all trailers have batteries.

So it must be the lights. Brake or running lights, I dunno. But think I've heard issues with some trailers with LED lights. Maybe they weren't drawing enough current for the controller to realize that a trailer was attached?

If that could be you, maybe trying another trailer with incandescent bulbs?

My trailer has LED lights, but it has a lot of them and the controller works.

No thats not it. It has no LEDs but all the lights work fine. Just the brakes don't work. Does it matter if the trailer is parked or rolling. If I'm parked does the truck not send brake power since I'm already stopped

Try it out. You won't see much voltage when parked.

But set the controller up to 10, and get truck+trailer rolling on pavement and slide the controller bar over.

The trailer tires should lock up.

Then turn the controller down until they just stop locking up.

I forget the speed at which you should do this. 25-45mph? Should be in the truck manual.

That is the only thing I can think of as to my the brakes don't work. I found a the tho for the trailer screen coming on all the time and showing a disconnected trailer when its hooked up.
