Default Towing question for 03 f150

Hi,

I am looking to buy a used bumper trailer that has 5000 lbs but the issue is that I am missing the sticker that has towing capacity information. My truck is 2003 f150 4x4 lariat 5.4 liter with 7 lug. I don't know if my truck has 7700 payload capacity.

The axle ratio is 3.73
Please help and thank you in advance

Just look up 2003 Ford towing guide it should answer all your questions. Also thats 7700 GVW not payload.

I meant with 7700 payload group. I just checked the guide and looks like my maximum towing capacity is 8000 lbs.

7 lug = 7700 GVWR I am thinking you have at least 2000 lbs left over for payload, so tongue weight will never be a problem. You have a beast truck that can even handle a 5th wheel. Most of the newer trucks would not be able to. That trailer is no problem. Just make sure the brakes on the truck and trailer are in order.

7-lug makes your truck a 7700. You have the most capable truck of the 97-03 generation for towing and hauling. my 99 4.2 5-lug is rated to tow 5000lbs so you are more than good at that weight.

Yup, 7700. Nice piece of kit for hauling with! It'll haul that rig with ZERO issues. Jump in and tow away.

I want to ask if can tow without having the ford safety compliance certification label inside the door. I am just worry that I will be checked by RCMP.

I haven't ever heard of the RCMP checking the sticker of a truck unless there was something that looked dangerous. With that size of trailer, as long as your truck is in good mechanical condition and doesn't look rough (nasty tires, huge rust holes, missing or mismatched body parts), I don't think you need to worry.

FWIW - I bought an ex-RCMP f250 a few years ago and it didn't have a sticker. "
