Just click Tow/Haul mode on the end of the gear shifter and put it in drive. M is for manually selecting what gears you want to drive in.

m is good so you can drop a gear manually and get the motor in the powerband up a hill, but its a camry, gotta strap it down or it might float away.

Are you towing on a dolly or flat bed U-haul trailer? For full flatbed you'll also need a trailer brake controller if not equipped with the factory unit, assuming the trailer has electric brakes.

some info on the truck would help too....year, gearing, engine...
as stated the m is manual mode..but in d the display can be used as well..i've seldom used the m mode..
with a u-haul trailer, i'd use the tow/haul as some models of the older u-haul trailers are heavy..the camry is a lighter load ..watch the tongue weight too...don't need trailer sway wrecking your trip...

I believe that Uhaul trailers have surge brakes.

Uhaul trailers DO have surge brakes. I just towed a 1996 F150 Regular cab on one of these trailers. Worked great. They only have straps for the front wheels, so get 2 extra. All four corners should be tied down. Drive it on, don't back it on. A little too much tongue weight is better than not enough. But you won't have to worry about that. The trailer is set up to distribute the weight pretty well.

Agreed, put it in tow haul, and "D". If you notice a lot of up and downshifting, drop it down a gear and leave it there. No matter what truck you're pulling it with, not enough weight there to worry about.

P.S. Thank you for your service.

Your total tow weight should be under 5k lbs with trailer and car. Use tow haul if you notice truck shifting in and out of overdrive. If not, leave in drive. Depending on truck year, motor and rear end gears, it may be a medium or light weight load....

Yes with that set up you'll be fine. Not sure towing capacity but I'd just throw it in drive and hit to haul button and not worry. If you don't tow much here are some tips.

Check trailer tire air pressure and make sure they are filled to max.
Check to make sure they tighten the coupler and check it at every stop.
Load car forward enough so you have good tongue weight.
