Towing my pontoon
I've just dragged my new pontoon boat home - approx 850km of mainly highway.
I figure the boat motor and trailer come in about 2600-2700lbs.
I've previously towed my sled trailer loaded to it's max (3000 lb axle) and the fuel consumption hardly dropped. However, this trip with the boat saw me sucking half a tank every 200km (124miles). I've worked out my average consumption of 19mpg dropped to 8 for this drive home. It's amazing what a difference the air resistance makes.
As for the truck, she handled it OK. It would have been nicer with one of the newer engines but this was a one off trip. Up to 100kmh it handled it OK but over 105 it was holding gears for a lot longer and would be at 4000rpm for a long time (as it's a 2010, I can't tell what gear it's in).
Overall pretty happy - but would a tuner make much difference to the fuel consumption here. Just curious.
Edit - almost forgot, you guys like pictures

Really surprised it dropped to 8mpg (not Imperial gal I hope!). It's wide but not that tall. That open deck probably catches a lot of air though. Or maybe bad headwinds?

The wind was pretty bad heading north out of Minnesota. It was only once we crossed the border that we escaped from under the bad weather and things settled down.

I havn't towed far enough to check the mileage but, I would expect the tuner to help the mileage due to increased HP and torque.
The Edge Evo made an incredible difference for my truck. Fun to drive now vs sluggish before. I would buy it again just for this.
