Agreed. I tow my 34' (bumper to ball) TT with a MaxTow and would love the HD package.

I am actually surprised there are not more out on dealer lots and are mostly special order. It seems there is a good market for people who don't want a true HD truck but would pay for a heavy half, especially with RVing and boating getting more and more mainstream.

In checking with dealers before I ordered mine I was told Max Tow was a must but HD Payload was a waste of money. Yea right....

That is why there are no/VERY few HDs on the lots. The dealers don't know squat about what real people need in a F150 to tow/haul.

For the record- the vast majority of buyers don't either...

Agreed, but the dealer should be educating them instead of just going for another sale. There was a thread in the Towing section from a woman who was incensed because she was told she was getting HD Payload and they lied to her. And she more than double checked with them to be sure.

When I went to buy my F150, the sales guy said they didn't have any Max Tow trucks. I had checked the inventory on their web site prior to leaving the house and knew they had two, a red and a blue, so I pointed them out to him. He checked the window stickers and said I was right. I don't talk to sales guys to learn anything, but just because I have to. I had already done my research on what I wanted/needed, plus I had internet quotes in hand from other New England dealers. We quickly negotiated down to $3,000 more than I was willing to pay before they asked for my offer. They hemmed and hawed and then agreed. And this is a dealer that says "we know that price matters."
