I am considering a ecoboost with the towing package in order to tow a slide in truck camper and boat through the colorado mountains. Does anyone have any real experience with how well the ecoboost engine performs when towing approximately 8-9000 lbs through the mountains and what kind of mpg you have experienced. Thanks for your help.

Any vehicle towing that kind of weight is going to suck at fuel mileage. That said, you will need the HD Payload package as well as Max Tow.

If it was me and I was starting from scratch I would go with an F250/F350 with 8 foot bed and get a full size slide in camper...11 or 12 footer. I would get a extended reciever bar and hook the boat on that. My dad did that with his and went for 4 months from STL to the far reaches of Northern Alaska, BC and the Yukon, twice, over 14,000 miles. He never had a problem and could launch into many of the streams/rivers in North America.

Yep, slide in truck camper, I would go F250/350 also. It is not about towing, but about payload.
