Default plow install

Dropped my truck for the plow frame install . The shop had told me they needed to get a 'air temp sensor relocation kit'. The new kit adds a sensor behind the driver headlight. The old sensor stays put and still reads when the plow is off. Another thing I just posted about in the general discussion section is how behind the grill is a series of rotating louvers to adjust air flow to the engine/radiator. I did not know this was on the new F150. Looking at it I thought it would be something to freeze open or freeze shut...or just something else to break.

I assume ford would claim those louvers improve efficiency by helping the motor warm up quicker and reducing airflow into the engine bay at highway cruising for less drag. I too think that the parts can get stuck in less than ideal climates, leading to a check engine light and dealer service.

They're common on a lot of cars these days.
My Cruze Eco has never had a problem with them since 2011.

But I don't go out much when it's snowing heavy. Would imagine the heat of the engine would keep them free most of the time. Perhaps in extreme cold they could freeze up ...

There.... plow mount is finally installed....and Timbrens installed...But with the louver thing and air temp sensor... I need to add a remote air temp sensor to the plow mounted up by the light. Ford has the harness and sensor all made to mount. So one more thing to plug in when the plow is mounted.

It's gotta be the angle of your photo, but just curious, what is the ground clearance under the plow mount? What size tire on your truck? Do you have the Heavy Duty Payload Package? Thanks.

I'll take another photo tomorrow and actually measure the ground clearance.

This is the first I have seen the Boss for the 15.

The fisher MM2 push plates sit tight to the bumper and have a lot more ground clearance.

The grille shutters are active aero. I work at a Ford dealer and they are just about trouble free across the whole Ford lineup that uses them. I think I've seen one set replaced ever and it wasn't weather related. I've never seen a frozen set set a CEL ever, even in the winter we had last year.

How much does the Boss plow weigh? Did it drop the front end with the blade up?

At work they tried a fisher HD2 8' blade on a 15 F150 and it was too heavy, ended up with an SD.

I'm back and forth between the HT and the SD, I'm going to put mine on next month.

With suspension Timbrens the front drops 1" with the standard duty Boss 7 1/2' plow weighs 420 lbs I believe. What part of the country do you work in at a Ford garage ? I'm glad winter doesn't bother the louvers that is good to hear.
I would never put a 8' plow on a half ton.

Thanks for the measurement. I'm guessing the mount is taking up the space usually filled by the air dam.

On their respective websites, I'm seeing the Boss SD weighing 597 lbs with a 90 lb mount. Fisher HT is 414 lb with 60 lb mount. Fisher SD is 487 lb with 60 lb mount.
