So t is. My error.

So if you haul absolutely nothing in the F-150 but a shinny driver, then your max trailer weight is around 7,900 pounds before your drivetrain overheats for every little hill in the road, and you become the slowpoke holding up traffic on hills and mountain passes. That's the good news.

The bad news is the hitch weight (weight on the "pin" or kingpin) will be a minimum of 17% and probably closer to 20% of gross trailer weight. Luxury 5ers have as much as 24% or more pin weight. So a 12,200 pound 5er will have a pin weight of 2074 to 2440 pounds. Your half-ton pickup doesn't have anywhere close to 2,074 pounds of unused payload capacity, much less 2,440 pounds. So you're going to be overloaded, and probably severely overloaded.

My F-150 SuperCrew 3.5L EcoBoost is overloaded with my small TT that grosses only 4,870 pounds with 650 pounds on the tongue when wet and loaded on the road. So you need either a lot more truck or a lot less trailer before you hit the road to join the rest of us at the campground.
