Default towing a 2011 F-150 2 wheel drive

Hi can anyone answer is a 2 wheel drive f-150 can it be flat towed behind a motor home with the drive shaft removed? Is there an issue with an electronic locking differential, ours has a button on the dash to use when you need traction control.
If not does anyone know what type of car dolly would be heavy enough and wide enough to do the job?

thanks

i'm doubting the ability of a dolly for a fullsize 1/2 ton...most i've looked at rate out at 4000-4900lbs...i'm not sure on the rating process if thats the front supporting weight or if thats total pulling...mastertow unit..80inches wide..http://www.mastertow.com/tow_dollies.html#specs

as for the locker its electric and only locks when turned on..off its a normal diff..

thanks for your reply, I called master tow and they are saying that the truck will be too wide, it may fit between the wheel wells of the dolly but when the vehicle turns it will rub into the wheel fender of the dolly. Would like to flat tow, but ford is not advising it, and not saying exactly why. I would think along the same line as you, if the button is not pushed for on, then its off, but who knows, this truck is loaded with electronics.

you can tow it with a tow bar... I see them quite frequently in south texas, like steve says, i don't like the idea of a tow bar and I'm assuming you would want to put the rear wheels on it right? not sure of the newer style but the steering doesn't lock like it does in other vehicles so it would move around a bit

a tow bar could work.. have to be a hd one for sure...with the drive shaft off it would be free to roll, the only worry would be if it broke free, what would stop it...

if you must i'd be looking into what the motor home can haul.. then find a deal/used car hauler trailer..

Most manuals will have a section about flat towing, or when the vehicle needs to be towed and safe procedures.
