Towing a 05 dakota with 08 Fx4?

Towing a 05 dakota with 08 Fx4?
Hello again all,
I am going to be traveling from Rio Vista, CA to San Antonio, Texas in the next couple weeks and need to tow along my wife's 2005 4Dr 4.7 liter V8 6 foot bed 4x2 Dodge Dakota with my 2008 F150 FX4 supercap (2 front with the small rear opposite opening doors) 5.4l and I was wondering what my best bet would be to get it there. Either to get a 2 wheel vehicle tow dolly and remove the driveline on the dakota or get a a-frame and again remove the driveline. However, I was wondering is will the stock towing package from ford with my 6000lb 2" reciever be strong enough to tow it, or will I have to upgrade to a weight distribution reciever for the tow dolly or if anyone else has any other ideas that would help me get it back down there the safest and easiest just let me know!

most tow dolly's weight limit is around 4000lbs... her truck weights more than that I'm sure. "A" frame would be your best bet and remove the drive shaft. I need to tow my son's 04 Expedition down to him and it weights 5600lbs so, I found a 6X18 car hauler to rent.

Well the whole truck only weighs 4600lbs so having only the front wheels would probably be about 60% of that so it would be under the 4000lb limit. Or do they account for the total vehicle weight?
