Default Tow mirror vs Std mirror

I am looking at changing my regular mirrors to tow mirrors. The problem is the width of the truck with the mirrors folded in. To fit in my garage I have maybe 2 inches on each side. Will the tow mirrors have a greater depth or will they be about the same?

Are you saying you have 2 inches each side with the standard mirrors folded in or out? If you have that much clearance with the std ones out you should be fine with the tow ones folded in. If you have only 2 inches with the std ones folded in you might be SOL.

Sorry, with mine folded in, I have about 2 inches on each side.
What I need is for someone to measure how far the tow mirrors stick out when folded.

This is from an 04 but the idea should be the same.

Measuring from the lip or trim on the bottom of the window the mirror extends out, when folded in, a tight 4 1/4".

I cant complain too much about my tiny garage because we got my house for a good price. I have room from the edge of my garage to my property line to build on. Only down side is its a hill, and it slopes down, and to the back. I would need a stepped footer. Someday my F150 will have its own house.

I traded my Ram 2500 for the F150. It never occured to me that the 150 was bigger. And I just got the SCAB. I meant to get the SCREW. I have 5 inches on the side and maybe 18 inches front to back. And I would do it again in a heartbeat!

My 16 tow mirrors stick out about 4 1/2" measured from the window rubber trim.

If upgrading to the full tow mirrors are too large you could always go with something like this:

I bought a set of my 09 and they fit perfect and that link is for the 2015+ models. Just a thought.

^ That's the route I took. They look good and do the same job as tow mirrors for a much lower price.

They don't exactly do the same job. The factory tow mirrors are wider when extended.

A friend of mine bought the slip on ones and we compared them to my tow mirrors.

He has a tough time seeing the back corner of his trailer with the slip on ones. The factory tows give you more view.

Not sure how important that is to you, but I just wanted to let you know its less view for less money.
