. . . to be honest . . . I don't think I would . . . you should operate just fine towing that 2200 lbs but if you come up on "good sized hill", just punch the gear shift button ( that +/- ) down one and it won't shift while you're climbing . . . . just don't forget to punch it back up when you've reached the top . . . by the same token - punch it down to help hold your speed lower if you're going downhill . .

With only ~3000 pounds trailer weight, tow/haul mode won't do you much good. The only time I would use it with that light a trailer is when coming down a steep mountain pass. Or maybe going up a steep grade if you notice a feeling of the tranny hunting between gears.

Towing a 4,870-pound wet and loaded TT over 10,000 miles in the last two summers, I can't tell any difference that tow/haul mode makes unless going up or down mild Rocky Mountain passes on I-80 and I-10. Overloaded with an 8,000 pound 5er recently, I towed about 200 miles from Austin via San Antonio to around Junction on I-10 before I realized I didn't have the tow-haul button pushed. Then I set it for the final 150 miles home and didn't notice any difference.

But for coming down the mountain using cruise control set at 65 MPH, it downshifts to whatever gear is needed, usually 3rd or even 2nd, to prevent more than about 70 MPH speed. Mine has 3.15 axle ratio, so 65 MPH in 2nd is still less than 4,000 RPM, so it works good in that condition.

T/H basically changes the shift patterns and locks up the Tq converter in the tranny. It also changes the down shift points in order to facilitate braking. Not going to hurt using it with that load.

You may notice the TC staying locked more, and may get a bit better mpg.
