Default Tire pressure

How do I know what tire pressure to run in truck when towing? I assume it has something to with hitch weight. I have a 2013 150 STX 4wd 5.0 v8.

For me it is whatever is written on the tire minus a few pounds.

Mine is 36lbs on the door and when I tow long distance (not uncommon for me to tow 800-1200 miles straight thru) I put my 20" tires at 40lbs.

If I'm just running across the state I don't bother to change from my normal 36lbs.

I'm like boulevard. Just a few under max listed in the tire. If I go by the door or manual, they are severely under inflated.

I go by my door sticker (55 psi front, 60 psi back for load-rated E tires on a Heavy Duty Payload package F150).

Side question. Visually, what are the differences between the heavy duty payload package in a f150 and a typical payload package ?

I can't seem to find any on my dealers lot.

Discussed often on the forum. HDPP's are very rare. In fact, when they changed over to the new model, Ford basically didn't produce any in 2015, people had to cancel and reorder a 2016 (or give up and look for a 2014). You're not going to find these on most dealer lots.

Not sure about visual differences in the 16s, but the 14 and older will have 7lug wheels. And I believe the HDPP was only available on XL, XLT, & LARIAT trims.
