Mine clears, just barely, if the truck/trailer are straight. I have a weight distributing hitch which extends farther from the receiver than a regular hitch; probably why it clears...

I haven't used one yet but may try it out depending on how my new TT interferes with my tailgate. If it does I will buy one and give it a shot.
Thanks for posting this! This is going on my overland trailer.

I was going to post the same thing, the jack-e-up is a nice thing to have. A quick twist the the jack comes off. That works for trailer that have the bolt on jack, if its welded on, you have to cut it off, and get one that bolts on. I don't need it for my travel trailer, but my plane hauler needs it.

I don't understand why manufactures don't just develop hitches that are almost flush with the tongue. Don't tell me the pole needs something to retract into. Telescoping capability is nothing new.

Oh and nobody better take my idea and go invent one. I'll claim royalties.

Its a known fact that the F150's box is deeper than its competitors, so the tailgate will be longer when open. I do not have a TT but my utility trailer's jack hit my tailgate also. I bought this item here and it has served its purpose very well. With my tailgate down I have 2" or so of clearance.

I have been using mine for a few years now, would definitely recommend it. I don't really know why these things aren't everywhere, maybe others don't have this problem?

Is this a common issue and what do you do to resolve it?

I resolved it by reaching over the truck bed, or climbing in it to get anything I needed out of it.
You can also solve the dilemma by getting what you want out the bed before hitching up. 🙂
