Airbags and Onboard air... Questions and then the Build!
So deciding that for next year I am going to add airbags for my truck for when pulling our enclosed trailer. I wanted dual control of each side, and I want compressor on board. The more I was looking into it, I decided that for not much more I should be able to add onboard air tank that would be like 5 gallons, and after putting a manifold on, I should be able to run a line to the controlled fitting and a seperate one to run an air hose and tools for working on snowmobiles in the trailer, compressed air for tires, etc.
So I have the bags bought, here is the kit I am looking at:
http://www.truckspring.com/products/...__FIR2491.aspx
My question is, if I purchase just a manifold from them and the correct hoses, will I be fine with that compressor or do I need to step up to the heavy duty compressor? It sounds like the heavy duty only works with the wireless controller models, or are they trying to just get me to step up into a more expensive "package" they make? I am thinking it might be easier to just piece all the parts myself and do it... Whats the main difference between the standard and HD, and is it worth it to step up compressors?
I guess looking for advice on how to do this, or any links to a kit I should be looking at instead. I am thinking if I get the right compressor and controller the rest is just basic plumbing.
Is this do-able? I heard others say just buy an air horn kit like some have used to make obnoxius train whistles and use the controller from Firestone. Whats the cheapest quality way to do this (I don't want to buy multiple kits and have expensive parts left over to make what I am invisioning..).
Thanks

Keepin' the lights on!
I wouldn't recommend that kit for use with a 5 gallon tank. That compressor only has a 9% duty cycle, not near enough for filling a 5 gallon tank. Not only that but that compressor only runs when you air up the bags, there is no reserve. I had Firestone's HD compressor with a two gallon tank and it would take a long time to fill. Definitely couldn't use air tools with it but it would fill tires ok if the tank was full. Look at the Viair line of compressors. They would be better suitted for what you want to do. You could still use that firestone kit except the compressor. To run some light air tools you would probably want to go with two compressors and two 5 gallon tanks.

What way did you go then? Think about the same thoughts as you were. I am looking at a Viair compressor and tank. I have a set of air bags sitting in the garage to put on. But dont know what to do for the controls.
