SD to HD suspension
hey guys I have a different question. I have a 2011 f150 reg cab 145wb 302 rwd 3:31 standard suspension that weighs 5820# wet. My gvw is 7050# fa-3300#, ra3853#, and gcwr is 13500#. I would like to load my 900# Harley in the back and tow a jayco 26 ft, 5000#loaded trailer. My hitch is rated at 1100#'s WD. I know that I cant tow with this suspension the way its setup now, but I wanted to know if I can get non oem springs front and rear for a H-D package, If I could then tow safely. I called ford and they said that they have to many pn's so I should go aftermarket. I also don't know how I would figure out the weight limits on the truck after the swap. I really don't have the money to buy a new tv, and was hoping that this was feasible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

I'm not sure, butt......I think you should fergidaboudit!!!!!
There's a lot more to the HD package than just some springs. When the truck is built with the HD package I think it gets a heavier duty rear axle, hubs, and a beefier differential, and maybe some reinforced frame structure. It also gets stronger wheels that can carry the increased load.
Personally I don't think there's any way to economically upgrade your truck - and even if you did, there's no documentation that will "officially" show that your truck has been designed, engineered, and tested to safely carry such an increased load that you're talking about.
I think you need to consider a truck built by the factory to the specs that you need to carry the load you're talking about and still be able to hook up a 5000 lb trailer with a 600 lb tongue weight.
Just MHO!

You could get a rack for the back of your trailer (which would free up some of your GVWR for you and tongue weight) and see where that leaves you...but that is a lot of weight and I don't know it TT's have the frame for that like motorhomes do. As is without adding just yourself (body weight) you are probably near 400# over your GVWR. Need a lighter bike for traveling with your TT...maybe a Dual-Purpose style.
The extra bike would be a lot cheaper than a new TT and easier to store in garage. Just a thought

1230# payload - 200# driver - 150# baggage and WD hitch = 880# max tongue wt.
I have seen some toy haulers that would fit that with a 900# bike on board.
Mine has a 780# tongue weight with 600# of bikes (two dual sports) on board. There are some smaller ones that would haul one bike. Mine was the smallest I could find with a permanent bed in front that would haul two bikes.
1230# payload - 200# driver - 150# baggage and WD hitch - 900# Harley = -20# max. tongue weight. That can't be fixed with suspension aids.
