May be 30' from your fuel nozzle but right close to someone else's fuel nozzle in dual sided pumps. I try to remember to turn off fridge, I don't always.

These things don't have pilot lights anymore. A little spark to kick the fridge on is all that is needed. With it being 30 ft from the fuel nozzle, I don't worry too much about it.
My 2010 forest river pop up still has a pilot light...I run it on 12V while on the road.

I always shut my fridge off....while the TT is parked in my driveway I always have it plugged into the house so fridge is always on and cold. When I leave on a trip I shut the fridge off and everything in it stays very cold until I get to the camp ground.... I have never had a problem with the food in the fridge or freezer thawing out....usually I am travelling approx. 3hrs..... Happy camping all.....

Default Frige flame

Tystevens, I thought all fridges had a flame while on propane? Could you post your make and model that does not have a flame?

Thanks

If "flame" you mean the flame of a pilot light, then many of the newer RV reefers have an electronic pilot light instead of a flame. So there is no flame unless the reefer is turned on and running.

But when running on propane, the reefer is almost always "running" with a flame that is burning to circulate the refridgerant gas (the stuff that replaced Freon)..

There are various 2-way (110-volt plus propane) reefers available. The 3-way (110-volt, 12-volt + propane) are rare and expensive. My 2012 model TT came with a 3-way like this one:
Amazon.com: Norcold Inc. Refrigerators N410.3UR 3 Way Refrigerator: Automotive Amazon.com: Norcold Inc. Refrigerators N410.3UR 3 Way Refrigerator: Automotive

I always travel with mine running on propane. We usually plug in (AC) the trailer the night before, let the fridge cool, then pack our food before leaving. The entire time in travel is on propane. I hadn't thought about the concern with gasoline and the sort of open flame from the propane burner in the fridge unit. On my unit the fridge is on the other side as the filler and a good 30ft back.

Of course it's not a problem now as Diesel doesn't ignite from vapor like gasoline. I don't even turn off my F350 when fueling...

We travel with our fridge on in auto so it uses propane. It does fine. Our fridge is on the opposite side from the gas filler and 25ft away so I don't sweat it from an ignition source perspective. We plug ours in the day before to cool it down. Then we turn the gas on for the trip. You may need to verify it lights off and purge the line by lighting the stove first when you turn on a bottle. You should be able to hear the igniter clicking then you will hear the flame when it gets the gas.

I always run on auto 12v/propane on my camper while travelling, and connect to the shore power as soon as we get to our destination.
