payload question
I've been studying this site and the ford.com build site for months now. I find those are the only places to find accurate info. Every salesman I talk to has no clue regarding capabilities of HD payload and/or Max Tow. They make all kinds of inaccurate comments (either lies or in ingorance) trying to get me to buy a unit off the lot that does not meet my needs.----Enough of my rant ------ Here is my question: I need the maximum payload available whether it be 5.0 or EB configuration. My TT GVWR is 7300lb so I know the 5.0's 9200lb tow capacity will handle it , but I also want to have max payload availability. So, to those with the 5.0 with HD payload, and to those with the EB with the MaxTow/HD combo -- What payload does the yellow door sticker show for the respective configuration? I know that in both configurations the GVWR is 8200lb, but does this translate into the same payload as shown on the yellow door sticker. I want the yellow sticker payload because it already takes into consideration options, passengers, fuel, etc. Thanks in advance.

Mine is an xlt eco screw HD and door sticker is 2171. The reduction in payload vs the book comes from the steps, tailgate step, rear cam, power seat and maybe a few other things. Also note that the number is derived from wet weight. Oil, full gas tank, coolant and all options. It does NOT give an allowance for driver or passengers.
In my case, I have 2171, minus 150 for hitch/brackets, minus about 400 for me/wife/kid/carseat, minus 1400 lb pin weight. So, I have a little over 200 lb left, which will likely be taken up with stuff in the truck or added pin weight. Also, although I've not been on a scale, the rear axle should be within the 4800lb rating.
As far as dealer awareness... I visited 3 dealerships looking at trucks and none of them had any idea what the HD package was. This is the most capable 1/2 ton available at this time and very few know about it. It's what got me to jump the fence from GM.

payload question
Would Your truck configuration but with the 5.0 have approx. the same yellow sticker payload number? In other words, the MaxTow that automatically comes with the EB, does not increase payload. Am I correct?

If I'm reading the Ford tables correctly, the 5.0 would have 20 lb more payload, so about the same. The main difference would just be lower trailer weight rating and lower GCWR.

Keepin' the lights on!
The max tow pkg increases the GVW by 500 lbs over the standard tow pkg. My door sticker is right around 1700. Only the eb and 6.2 are available with max tow. If I did it over, I would've held out for the HD payload too. That being said, I've only hauled enough to make it squat a couple times so far.

My truck has a payload capacity of 2428lbs. Now, with the bed sprayed, the RollX and the steps, I have to take ~200lbs off that. With the MaxTow, you get the brake controller, tow mirrors, and a bigger tranny cooler as compared to a HD truck without the MaxTow.
