Nonsense, I have both, and my TT tows just as good as my 5er. But you must have a good hitch to make the TT tow as good as a 5er. As a minimum you need a Reese Strait-Line dual-cam weight-distributing hitch I use for my cargo trailer, and even better is the ProPride hitch on my TT. My 5er has an ordinary Reese hitch with 4-way tilt, and I've towed it coast to coast for over 100,000 miles over the last 13 years, but most of those miles were behind an F-250 diesel. The EcoBoost drivetrain tows that 5er as good as the PowerStroke turbo-diesel drivetrain, and without the CAT scale reports you probably wouldn't realize I was overloaded.
But my 5er severely overloads my F-150, so I tow it only in an emergency. Nobody can tell the 5er overloads my F-150 because I have it set up as good as possible. But the CAT scale tells the truth.

I will tell you that my 5er tows much better than either the enclosed trailer or car trailer or boat that I have towed. They just seem to pull harder when hooked to the trailer ball. But I do think the 5th Airborne Sidewinder has a whole lot to do with it. I don't get the harsh jolts or clunking from the weight of the 5er like I do with the other trailers.

Having put a sh__load of towing miles on my 08 XLT, with several TT's and now my 2012 Ecobeast with TT's and my current 5'r I will say that I hope I don't have to pull anymore TT. The difference is absolute night and day. A completely different towing experience. The 5'r is just a dream compared to the TT. I would not even consider going back to a TT.
