Default Brake Controller/Lights

Niether the truck or trailer signal lights work. Checked all fuses, even took the install out did not resolve the signal light issue. I'm starting to think that something needs to be re programmed in the truck ECM.

Did you wire the 7pin plug yourself? When I did one on a truck a few years ago, I wide something wrong in the plug and got the same result. I just took it all apart and started over and it was fine.

Does the problem only happen when the trailer is connected? If so, it is probably a ground problem on the trailer. Make sure there is a grind wire running from the trailer side wire connector to the frame, and that is it a good ground with no rust. Lots of time trailer manufacturers cut corners and try to ground through the ball, and it creates all sorts off issues.

I just put a Prodigy in my 2012 Eco F150. I used the old harness and installed the new plug. You have to watch which wires you use as the colors don't match. If you go to the Prodigy web site they a document that tells which ones to hook together. I you take out the plastic box that's in the hole for the Ford TBC and cut the back out the prodigy will mount in that hole and look like it belongs there.

You guys are making me want to dump my aftermarket controller and buy the ford unit. I have a 2010 lariat with trailering package but no factory controller. Just the aftermarket one the guy who purchased the truck new put in. I've only had the truck a month. Any idea of a cost and can you put it in yourself?

If you are talking about the complete original unit that you get with a 2012 F150 there is nothing nearly as good. I've towed for 45 years and never had such a good controller in terms of smooth application of brakes!
