New trailer

I pulled a f350 diesel 4x4 on my trailer with a 04 f150 4x4 4.6 3 hours through the hills of West Virginia and southern Ohio. I estimated the truck at 8000 and the trailer at 1900lbs. Sure it struggled on the hills but I was surprised how it handled it and it really did great overall

Sure, most F-150s can PULL it, but not without exceeding the GVWR and payload capacity of the tow vehicle. Mine has pulled a loaded gooseneck trailer that weighed more than 20,000 pounds over the Hill Country of Central Texas. But it was severely overloaded over the GVWR and rear GAWR of that poor little F-150.
You say you pulled a trailer that grossed about 9,900 pounds over hills and dales, but you didn't say how much overloaded you were over the GVWR of your F-150. And you were probably also overloaded over the tongue weight (TW) rating of your receiver hitch. A 9,900 pound trailer will average over 1,200 pounds TW, and your OEM Ford receiver is probably rated for not more than 1,050 pounds TW.

Sure I knew it was overloaded over the gvwr rating of the truck. Honestly for the trip I was making I didn't care as I had to get my truck there and had nothing else to pull it with. Now if I was going to be hauling that much everyday or consistently sure I would pay more attention and not subject my truck to the wear and tear.
