So can you answer my questions about that tire? Will it fit on a 5" wife rim like the other 205-75 R15's from other brands? Maxxis is very vague on there rim recommendations.

Be careful if you go with a larger size -- you need to have a couple of inches between the tires at max load, else the rear tire can't get enough air to cool the tread and overheats.

I believe the tongue weight is a factor in calculating GVW. For example, 7,000 axles + 700 carried by truck = 7,700 trailer GVW.

I plan on staying with the current size but that's good info none the less.

I was wondering if that was the case and it makes sense but I still would rather have a higher rated tire as a just in case. I'm surprised the trailer manufacturer would run so close to the ragged edge on the load and tire ratings.
Anyways, I talked to discount tire today and they said the load range D Maxxis 205-75 R15's will fit on my 5" wide rims.

Then you talked to the village dummy at Discount Tire. Maxxis M8008 ST radial trailer tires in size ST205/75R15D requires 5.5" rim width.

That village dummy read it off the same computer screen that I did on the discount tire database while I as standing next to him.

.
I too am *disappointed* the trailer manufacturers run so close to the ragged edge, but no longer *surprised*. In the past few months I have spent a lot of time & money replacing dinky axles and beefing up the frame on my trailer. I have concluded that their expected use is: drive 150 miles of freeway, park at RV park. No cross- continent expeditions, no twisty back roads or forest service roads.

There was no better information on any of the distributors websites either. My vote will still go with the Maxxis M8008 LRD
