Hey guys I know this might be a little bit OT for this section but I know alot of you are pulling 5'ers and TT's so Im hoping you guys can give me some input here. My old Jayco 304BH needs new tires all around so Im looking for brand recommendations from you guys. I dont have a huge budget but I dont want cheapo crap either so just tell me what you all have and how you like them. Thanks!

This might go against the grain here but I'm not a fan of trailer tires. I would much rather run a good tire like a Michelin MS2 or something like that. Also now's a good time to upgrade to a 10ply tire. Even if you have to swap rims I think the reduced sway is well worth it.

Heard good things about Maxxis.

So my next tires will be Maxxis 10 ply radials: ST225/75R15-E

The E rating may be overkill but with only a single axle, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Good advice about upgrading, also be aware that most trailer tires are rated for 65 Mph.
I have used Maxxis and Goodyears with good results but my tandem axle RV trailers are under 5k and I drive back roads at less tha 60 Mph. I have also used LT truck tires on a 25' 4700 lb Prowler TT.
Avoid ANY tire made in China

Thanks for the input so far guys, I'll look into the Maxxis. Also, I do not travel over 60 mph towing my TT, I know better than that.

Btw the tires on it now are Goodyear that are only a handful of years old but the tread is separating on two of them already.

Depends on what size tires and wheels are on your trailer now. Your trailer has a GVWR of 9,000 pounds, so your tires must have weight capacity of at least 2,250 pounds per tire. So that's probably at least size ST225/75R15D which have 2540 pounds weight capacity. But long experience has taught me that you want as much excess weight capacity on your trailer tires as you can reasonably obtain. So with a TT with a GVWR of 9,000 pounds, I would insist on size ST225/75R15E (load range E) with weight capacity of 2830.

Maxxis makes excellent trailer tires in size ST225/75R15E. Discount Tire is a dealer for Maxxis, so if they don't have what you need they can order a set for you. That's what I did for the tires on my utility trailer.

But also be aware of the wheel requirements for that tire. Most 15" trailer wheels are only 5.5" wide, but the Maxxis M8008 ST225/75R15E requires 6" wide wheels. If your wheels are not already 6" wide, then buy new wheels to go with those tires. You can get new plain 15" trailer wheels that are 6" wide for less than $35 each at

Don't fall for that nonsense that special trailer (ST) tires are not good. For 15" trailer tires, that's what you want if you choose a good brand such as Maxxis. If you move up to 16" tires/wheels, then some (but not all) LT tires are just as good if not better than the similar size in ST tires. But the LT tire must be rated as an "all position" truck tire on the truck tire website for that brand, else don't consider it. For example, the Michelin XPS tires are rated as an all-position truck tire on the michelintruck.com website. So those are fine for mounting on a trailer. But the wonderful Michelin LTX tires for pickups and SUVs are not on the truck website, so they are not rated for use on trailer axles.

Good info thanks! The GVWR of my TT is 7700 pounds though if I remember right, I'll double check that when I get home but I would still like to get the highest load rated tire I can fit on my rims.

You can get the 15" Maxxis in either Load Range D or E. Amazon sells them if you can't find them any where else. I plan to replace my TowMax LRD tires with Maxxis LRE.
