Well, looks like the sales people at the dealership realize it is the end of the month - they really want me in to check out the 2011 F250 4x4 - say they can go $26,500 on it. My 2011 F150 XLT with 8500 miles on it is coming in on KBB for a trade value of about $22,000

Cars for Sale: 2011 Ford F250 4x4 Crew Cab Super Duty in Tampa, FL 33619: Truck Details - 343392134 - AutoTrader.com

So, what do you guys think? If I got $22k for my trade, do you think I could get the $26,500 price down any more?

It has 48k miles on it, but is a Certified Pre-Owned, which means it comes with a 7 year/100,000 mile (from original date of purchase) power train warranty - which means it has 52k miles or 5 more years of powertrain warranty left.

Truck has new tires on it as well.

If you are concerned about mpg's at all stick to the F150. If not the Super Duty will be more stable and better suited to handle anything you throw at it.

Tell them you'll take it if they put in a Ford trailer brake controller.

Otherwise it will be pretty bare-bones. No cruise control probably.

But definitely way cheaper than new.

Well, I think for right now I'm going to pull in the reins and slow down - maybe wait until end of year - this way I can save up some money, really get an idea as to whether we really NEED to upgrade the boat - hell, we've only been boat owners for 1.5 years now and the wife has to have some major surgery in a few months that will take her out of commission for boating for about 2 months or more.

Now, funny thing, we're at the ramp (a pretty nice one) yesterday putting in our 19 foot bayboat - it was low tide, and we did encounter some slipping as I was pulling out the now empty trailer after launch. First thing my wife says - "Next truck has 4WD, ok?" LOL

Just got a new Ford magazine with the ATLAS featured - damn what a nice truck - the way it seems to be designed with towing and hauling in mind, from the groudn up - wow.

It's an XL, but it was fixed up at the factory with the power equipment option (power windows, door locks, mirrors) and the trailer brake controller. Since it has the power equipment package, I'll bet it has cruise control too. But that's one thing to check. The dealer can add cruise control by replacing the steering wheel and a few other simple mods for a few hundred bucks. I wouldn't have any vehicle without cruise control.

Oops! You're right. I was thinking 2010 and earlier F-250s.

Hope all goes well for the wife. If you have not been told yet what BOAT stands for here you go;
B - Break
O - out
A - another
T - thousand
So your right on track, break out another thousand and by the newer truck...........
