Need new tires for towing
I intended to get LT 275/65R18 load range C when ordering my truck but ended up with the P metric 275/65r18 Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude by mistake
They are very bouncy and I think they are contributing to some sway when pulling my fifth wheel.
From the factory would have been the Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure with Kevlar. My previous F150's all had Wrangler AT/S.
So my questions are: what LT tires do you run?
Do you have C or E load range? How is the ride?
I prefer C for the stiffer sidewall vs p metric but still not as stiff as a E range. There are not many choices to pick from in load range C in the size needed.
Thanks

I run Michelin Defender LTX (highway tire as I don't need AT) LT 275/65/18. Made a huge difference hauling bed loads full of firewood. I had the P rated tire squish and the truck didn't feel stable. With the E rated LTX's, the truck feels much more stable and planted.
If I had needed AT, I echo Bill The PA, I would've gone 10 ply AT3. I had AT3s in P before I switched to 10 plys. Definitely recommend for AT if needed/wanted.
As far as ride goes, it's just fine for me.

there are lots of load range c tires available in that size. I've got 70M miles on my Goodyear Wrangler AT LR C tires and there is a good 5M left in them. Load Range E is overkill. They just make for a rougher ride.

to some "E" rated might be overkill however if the OP tows allot, especially weight over 8000lbs then I'd highly recommend it. As I and others have stated before on this forum, the new generation F150 are more jittery and seem to have a loose handling feeling. Any side gusts from Transport or wind only magnify side to side motion. A stiffer sidewall would most definitely help. To the OP. If you're not that situation then I'd say do a swop at dealership for the LT 275/65/18 Wrangler and pay the $350 difference. (Pennies/month). Good luck. BTW I think that wrangler ( with Kevlar ) was rated # 1 or 2 by consumers report and the Cooper AT3 was # 1 last year.

Check tirerack.com for tires. You will see what's available and see other people's ratings for each tire.
Also, I don't see HD payload package on your sig. Some of your issue might be your truck's payload capacity versus the actual pin weight of your 5th wheel.

I've had Michelon LTX MS/2 LT-E's for about 50K miles mostly towing and have been running them at 60 psi, rotated every 10K miles. Do like them a lot but they all are wearing too much on the sides like they are under-inflated. (My axle weights are much less than they can support at 60 psi.)
Maybe you have to run these LT-Es at their max 80 psi to wear evenly? I'll be upping the psi on these to see if I can get more miles out of them.
And if you want to run at 50 psi, you might get better wear out of an LT-C tire, or an LT-D at 65psi (their max psi's)?
