I have to agree with you. I dont have anything near that for clearance. I'm not a happy camper having to spend near 500$ to modify the trailer to accept the WDH. I'll try and snap some picks later tonight once the rain lets up.

Galaxy - that trailer - loaded as you are loading it - will push the limits of your truck. You will need to have everything set up perfectly, and you could still end up being over a few of the limits. This is a trailer for a super duty if you want to make it safe and enjoyable - IMO.
In hindsight the super duty would have been the better choice. I only tow to race events, about 15-20 days per year. Given the towing infrequency and that payload and tow capacity were within limits I thought I was good with the F150EB.

At the end of the day, with the WDH, it just may end up being fine.

Not a great picture, but this is the area (bluish tint) I have to end up cutting away on both sides to accommodate the WDH. PITA. I dont think there is any choice.

WDH, bags, overloads, or something like the Roadmaster setup. LT's (something like you see on 3/4 or 1 tons) will help a lot with the sway from these soft tires.

What were these people thinking? Building a trailer that big with no way to add a WDH?

The WDH will lift weight off your rear truck axle and put some onto the front truck axle and some back onto trailer's axle(s). This should help you come under your truck's rear GAWR. The truck's front GAWR is not usually a problem, and hopefully they built the trailer with a sufficient GAWR so the extra weight there will not be a problem.

These Ecoboost SCabs with MaxTow can have a high payload rating (mine's over 2000#) as well as tow rating, so with with a little care, luck and the WDH you should be able to come under or close to all the ratings (GAWR, GVWR, GCWR).

The handling really isn't that good when loaded up though. For occasional use, you can live with it. But if all you do is use the truck to tow that trailer, Ford's Heavy Duty Payload option would have been a good choice. It stiffens the suspension with HD shocks, springs and LT-metric truck tires (and other non-handling related stuff like a beefed up axle to increase the payload).

But shocks, tires and springs can all be improved afterwards as well, once you get the WDH set up and see how she rides.

Holy hell that's ridiculous. That trailer was intended for 1tons. Just like those luxury palomino v nose travel trailers

Silly design, but with a little selective trimming on the diamond plate just at the frame, it looks like the brackets for an Equalizer would be able to be mounted.

Measure twice, cut once...

Yup, disappointed with the trailer manufacturer. More so with the RV dealer. Ok. Some pluses. I got the truck with the heavy duty payload option (came with Max Tow). So I'll just get the WDH installed and call it a day.

I'm optimistic. It pulls pretty decently today given its out of shape state setup. I think with the WDH most of my issues will be gone. Crossing my fingers.

Yup, bad design. I found a decent trailer specialty shop with large service department that can do the job for me so its just a matter of setting up an appointment.

Once again, I want to thank you guys for giving me a little stick and rudder on this one. Feeling more educated and a lot more comfortable in my decision. Cheers.

I've meant to show a picture of the trailer cut up to expose part of the a-frame to install a WDH system. Based on how the trailer was built and not wanting to over engineer this I settle on this. I'm getting back about 1.25" from the rear and it does ride a bit better.

I cut away part of the aluminium and the steel plate behind it and had someone fab a plate with a post on a 45* angle and welded to the a-frame so that I can hook up my chains from the trunnions.

This should tie me over for a while until I can think up something more intelligent that would give me something that is not fixed.
