Default Need advice on first trailer.

Hey guys Im looking for my first trailer and can use all the input I can get. I'm looking for a unit in the 17' range preferably double axle. I would like to stay under 20k. I have looked into the nash 17k and everything is perfect except the price tag! It will mainly be used on football weekends..any input is appreciated thanks

TT Dealers mark up is just as outrageous as Car Makers. Mine was marked at $41,995+tt&l...Labor Dale Sale last year for $37,995+tt&l. I ended up at $33,500 Out The Door including all taxes, prep and made them throw in the hitch. Might have been able to get another 1K or so out of them...maybe.

Find you model and search online. Wish I could remember the one I found in the Midwest that had great advertised prices for the same TT. Then take those number and make your offer. Honestly you could just do a factoring...

17ft TT x $210.00/ft =$3570.00 discount off a "real price". So let them make their "best offer" and then use the factor on that price for an OTD Price.

The price of the Nash 17K is high because it's a high-quality 4-seasons TT. That 4-seasons insulation and other components means it's heavy, with a GVWR of 7,000 pounds. Excellent choice for a football weekend at the freezing-cold end of the season.

But if you can get by without the 4-seasons capability, then there are lots of small less-expensive TTs available. For example, the Forest River Micro-Lite 18FBRS has GVWR less than 4,700 pounds. The website doesn't indicate if it is single axle or tandem axle, but based on the GVWR I'll bet it's tandem axle.

We have been very happy with out Skyline TT. Here is the current model of one similar to ours. GVWR 6,200, so a lot less than the Nash but more than theMicro-Lite. And we know it's a tandem-axle TT,

Regardless of the brand, I would search for used and save a pile of cash....I have a 25 ft Airstream. I could only afford used.

Nash 17K is under $20.000
http://www.nelsonsrvs.com/rv/boise+i...hwood+nash+17k. I can guarantee there is at least $600.00 more room in that deal. We bought ours there^.

WE just came from a 2015 Forest river trailer. Their is no comparison in construction quality and materials. You will love the vented heater and air, at least half the interior noise when running.

Just bought a new Forest River -Salem Cruise Lite 262bhsc TT. Bit over 29 feet with a large slide. This is a 4 season trailer. MSRP was something like 29k, of course on sale for 21950. Found same model in Portland Oregon for 18950. Went to my dealer and he matched price. Looked at the trailer later in Portland and realized while mine was all smooth aluminum side the other had the corrugated - slightly less in price. Anyway, this is probably a tad bigger than your looking for but it give you a good price comparison on new MSRP and the out the door price. This is upscale with electric slide, electric awning, electric jacks- all run with remote control.
Hope that helps. Ken
