Minimum Wheel and Tire Load Rating to not have Negative Impacts
New to towing, and I was thinking of upgrading my wheels and tires from stock and want to make sure I do not lower my GAWR or payload. Currently, I have the 18" Sport XLT wheels and my payload is 1,835lbs, rear axle GAWR is 3,800lbs, and front axle is 3,450lbs.
What is the minimum load for wheels and tires I should get to not lower these numbers?
Is it make sure it is at least more than max GAWR / 2 (> 3800/2 = 1900lbs)?

Ideal towing tires are LT with E load rating, like Goodyear Wrangler A/T Adventure with Kevlar. However any tire or wheel combination that weighs more than stock will reduce payload by the amount of the excess weight.

Good point, I wasn't thinking about extra weight of tires.

Your stock wheels are good to 2125 each and a good quality p275/65/18 tire with a 116 load index will be good to 2756 per tire or more. I tow my GN with Mastercraft Courser HSX in that size and they handle the load just fine. Much better infact than the stock Goodyears did.
