I recently purchased a Ford truck and contacted Ford prior to purchase to confirm different numbers for the same functions that were published in different places across their websites. I would recommend you do the same.

[2016 F150 XLT SCREW 5.0L, 3.31 ELD, Tow Package, Integrated Trailer Brake, Sport Package and 302A]

This is the email response I received:

Dear Mr. XXXX,

Thank you for chatting with us on August 13, 2016 regarding the 2016 F-150 XLT. We are following up with you because we have received a response to your question from our Brand Manager.

The GCWR is listed at 14,200 lbs., the towing capacity is 9,100 lbs., the GVWR is 6,800 lbs., and the total payload is 2,160 lbs. Finally, if you do select the Trailer Tow Package then the maximum towing amount will be set at 11,100 lbs.

lmao....some bone head didn't do the homework....my screw is only 1740lbs payload...and maybe max tow package...and I have a rating of 10100lbs with a 5.0 3.55 gears... so... someone needs to be posting the goods....
maybe a 3.5 eco would have those ratings....maybe not the payload..

Looked at another one tonight. This truck had the same setup but with expanded fuel tank and max towing package (without the extended mirrors). Maybe I'm confused but the dealer tonight told me the max towing package is what gives you the tranny cooler and stuff needed to tow. The regular doesn't give you really anything? Can anyone confrirm the differences in these packages?

They came in at the lowest of all the dealers - 45k with the 0% 72 months - but I was hoping closer the 43k mark. I don't qualify for any incentives though so that may have been a stretch with MSRP of 49,500. This one also came with the plastic bed liner and rubber floor mats.

I didn't get there until late and I forgot to look at the door jam sticker before I left >.<

I wanted a 2016 to take advantage of the 72 month / 0% financing which is only available for 2016s.

EDIT - found the stickers:

According to Ford's website, the GCWR, GVWR, & 9100 towing are correct for a 2wd. The payload is max payload for engine, cab, and gear ratio, NOT payload of the truck you are looking at. To get the 11,100 tow rating with the 5.0 you would have to go with a single cab, 141" wb, 4x4, 3.73 gears, with HD payload package.

Edit: Max Tow package is only available with the 3.5EB. With the tow package on the 5.0 (and regular tow package on the 3.5EB) you still get the trans cooler. You can just add a hitch receiver only, but that's not really a towing package and won't bet listed as such on the window sticker.

You can go to guides all you want to find what an ideal truck would have for the various numbers. It's NOT relevant to a truck that you buy. Why? Because every single change in package and options affects the numbers.

The ACTUAL PAYLOAD STICKER AFFIXED TO THE DOOR JAMB is what matters. TooManyVehicles has compiled a list of vehicles with the figures, they are real world existing trucks. I have not reviewed it, but if people gave him what their trucks are equipped with and real numbers, then it can help prospective buyers.

BEFORE YOU BUY ANY TRUCK, READ THE STICKERS ON THE ACTUAL VEHICLE.

So you can see the actual payload now, and do your calculations from that.

Also, you seem fixated on the zero percent financing. Make sure you understand that you are giving up money taking that. Ford Credit removes rebates when you take zero percent over the normal financing rate. Knowledgeable buyers take the higher rate and all the rebates, then refinance at their local credit union for 2% or less rate, and pocket the savings.
