What kind of payload do you expect it to have?

Tow/Haul for the boat alone, wouldn't bother. I also wouldn't get wound up about hauling the boat before the 1500k mark. With that weight the truck won't even know it's back there.
I feel your pain re: the ordering process. I did the same thing and had to wait about 8 weeks or so. Longest 8 weeks of my life..

Nice truck, well done.
The tow/haul mode, according to FORD literature, ".....is for towing or hauling heavy loads" and 4 tons is heavy, so use it. Anyone pulling this kind of weight who does not use the tow/haul mode deserves to melt a transmission. It may not melt today, it may not melt tomorrow or next week but 5 years from now you will be crying the blues over some truly bad advice and a slipping transmission. Use it, use it, use it.

I'll have something between 2200 and 2350 I think. It's the HD payload package, so I am not even concerned about payload with the size of 5th I will be hauling. I'd also have to think that with a boat attached to the 5th, it would bring down the pin weight a little too.
These 5th wheels I am looking at will be about 1000lbs of pin weight when loaded.

does the new tow/haul mode do anything besides lock out overdrive? on the older ones I know it only lock out OD and ford recommends using it only if your transmission is shifting in and out of OD a bit and did not have a weight rating associated

I'd use tow haul only over five thousand lbs. hoe you like the truck. If you never drove the ecoboost you won't know how much low end torque you are missing. Even the base 5.0 will be better than your Hyundai.

tow/haul does not lock out gears, but instead ensures there is plenty of power on reserve before committing to the next gear. If you put on tow/haul and have a light load, the truck still shifts to top gear. The select shift (-/+) feature allows you to lock out gears if tow/haul still wants to shift to top gear. I pulled a light trailer that was a huge wind sail with tow haul. The truck still jumped from 6th to 5th and back again. I simply hit (-) on the stick and kept the truck in 5th. Works great.

thank's for the clarification, i have an 06 and an 08 and they only have the od lock out so i wasn't sure... my buddy has a newer silverado and the tow haul mode feels like exhaust brakes on a bigger diesel, only extremely sensitive.

Yep that is the other benefit to the tow/haul. Let off the gas and the truck, should anyway, downshift to help save brakes. neat stuff
