How do these tow. I just noticed that the tow and payload are decent with the max tow package. Anyone tow with the 2.7L?

They tow good but the turbos are usually wide open...if you tow all the time your mpg will suffer...

Wide open might be a bit of an exaggeration . . .

I can say with absolute certainty and based on experience, the turbos are not "wide open" the whole time. In fact if in go about 40-50mph on flat land I can return almost 20mpg towing 7000 pounds. Turbos are used during acceleration and that's pretty much it. More so than the 3.5 I'm sure but who cares (it's built stronger than the 3.5).

Unless your to towing over 7500 pounds, the 2.7 is the better engine. Unless your doing it every day, but then why buy a half ton.

Please inform us what engine or manufacturer makes one that doesn't?

Matchbox...all brands
2.7 is a good engine..love mine, but towing it strains its milk more than others...that or something is wrong with mine?

I get about 11 mpg towing 7000 pounds with mine. What would the 3.5 get that makes mine worse?
