My daughter was born in October and then I deployed so I did not get to take her camping until she was 18 months, and that was in a tent. Now she is 8 and cannot wait for summer so we can head out again. We mix in some backcountry canoe trips as well. Baby steps at first!

Default Shamrock 21BD Maiden Voyage

Maiden Voyage of our new camper this weekend. 5000 lbs for the loaded camper, few hundred more of family and truck cargo. E2 WD bars kept me level and VERY stable pulling. 300 miles of fairly flat driving got 11.5 MPG (I do about 15.5 with a two horse aluminium trailer full of stuff and fat palomino)

I just have to get used to my tach reading higher than I'm used to seeing it...

OHHHHhhhhh is that a 21BD???? I think that's the one I'm wanting. My wife wants a big kitchen counter and the 21BD is about the only 21 footer that has decent counter top space. How do you like it?

Very nice!

Good for you!
I remember camping when my youngest was about 6 weeks old, and my eldest was about a year and a half. It was the May long weekend here in Alberta and it was snowing. The missus and the wee-one were shacked up with the sister-in-law in their 1970s RV. I was in a tent with my eldest .

TBH the only reason we have the camper is because my wife hates camping and the trailer was the only way she was going to join us. Now she loves it and cannot wait for the next trip. But I think getting kids camping early is important.

I agree, start them young. I think it's important to get them outside, in the dirt, in the creek and in the woods as often as possible. While we're camping we only allow tv on the really crappy weather days. They love it, my boy (2 years old) will dig in the dirt from sun up to sun down while my daughter (5 years old) is into catching frogs and bugs and riding her bike. This year we have a seasonal site with friends that have kids our kids age, they have a blast.

Default 09 f150 with 3.55 and 5.4l V8

Towing my 23ft TT about 6500lbs. Leveling kit and Monroe load leveling coilover shocks in the rear. Does great in the Mountains of Idaho.

Shocks raise the rear by 1.5 inches. Truck handles the trailer much better.

We love the state parks in Idaho. In the last three years we've camped at Farragut twice and Priest Lake once.
