I'd suggest you look into the DB ratings before you buy. The Champion units, while very modestly priced, also have the one of the highest db ratings. They're intended as work-site type of generators and therefore have no need to be super quiet. It depends on your uses I suppose. The Yamaha's are a great compromise, very high quality, super quiet, and not Honda priced. Also, you can install a "hard-start" capacitor in your AC in order to run a smaller generator. My 15k btu AC starts off my 3k generator with a hard start.

Yamaha also has a 3k generator with a battery boost.
Supplies up to 3.5k for 10 seconds to get those A/C units started...

58db and most reviews comment on how quiet it is. Also, these are enclosed, unlike the work site generators.

Don't forget to add the "...at 23ft" disclosure with that DB rating. Champion appears to be the only manufacture to measure the loudness of their products at 23ft away from it.

But hey, what's 23ft when it saves you 1k bucks compared to an expensive Honda. I'm not knocking the Champion, simply advising a good understanding of the specs is all...

U are right. I didn't. I thought it would be easy to figure out. I tend to hang in the cellar of another forum, I guess I'll have to tone it down a bit for this one.
