Lets see your campers being towed

Just returned from our summer vacation in Myrtle Beach SC. Stayed at the massive Ocean Lakes beachfront campground. The place is really neat with lots of amenities such as golf-cart rentals & nightly parade, multiple pools, fishing lakes, dining onsite, arcade, and of course the beach! We also ventured into town and did a number of activities including a dinner theater, aquarium, boardwalk, misc shopping, fireworks, and dining. Towing down and back was a piece of cake and honestly couldn’t have gone any better for a lengthy trip. I did hit the cat scales on the way back and measured in at 90lbs over GVWR and 270lbs over RGAWR! I did have a 150lb generator in the bed of my truck and probably 20gal of fresh water which is above and beyond my normal load of crap. The ProPride hitch is really starting to grow on me and truly does eliminate traditional trailer sway…

I would never think to turn off the sway control for the reasons 93Cobra mentions. BUT, my travel buddy recently traded up from a 2500 SRW to 3500 DRW Silverado. Same Duramax motor, transmission, and axle ratio and pulls the same 5'er toy hauler. The 3500 has way more payload since it's a dually, but also has zero sway control (guess they don't put it on the full ton pickup). To his surprise, his MPG while towing is with the 3500 is improved and he believes because there's no sway control system involved.

First of all....if you have never pulled a trailer, leave all systems in tack. The more safer it is the better. But if you have experience with towing you can at least see if their is a benefit during your pull. O and some common sense is needed as well.
