Yea the 5.4 has a way better torque curve but the 5.0 has a little more hp. Peak is at like 2500rpm, 5.0 is Like 4000 or Maybe higher? I forget exactly. so the more it weighs the better the 5.4 is vs the 5.0. That's why the 5.4 is rated at 10200 and the 5.0 is 8000 or whatever.

i disagree.

the only difference you'll notice the greatest differences... is in the diff.

2010 5.4 is rated at 7600 with the 3:55 LSD, i know cause that's what i have.

i looked at the 5.0 with the 3:73 and the 3:55.

3:55 rated for 7600
3:73 rated for 8200.

that's for a 2013 4x4 5.5 box screw. 5.0.

6.2 w/ 3:73 is 11000 i believe.

you can disagree all you want, but you are wrong, heres a link to the torque curve graph, its self explanatory, the 5.0 is more at 4500rpm and doesnt hold on near as long as the 5.4. http://www.f150forum.com/f38/5-0-vs-...136868/index9/

Here is a link to the tow ratings for the 2010 f150 5.4, as you can see the 3.55 super crew is 9500 for long box, 3.73 is 11100 http://www.ford.com/assets/pdf/towin...vF150sep09.pdf

here is a link to the tow ratings for the 5.0 supercrew and as you can see the 5.0 is at 7500 for 3.55 and 9100 for 3.73 http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/towing/

I understand the more linear torque curve of the 5.4 vs the 5.0, but don't forget a properly equipped 5.0 (single cab, 4x2, long box with max tow and HD payload) is rated for 11,300 towing. Just pointing out the 5.0 can't be too much of a slouch with thos ratings.

Just get an eco like I did and then you don't need to worry about 50 vs 54! Haha, I kid, not trying to start an engine war, back to the pics!

My brother traded a 5.4 for a 5.0 and said the 5.0 handles it much better. His new one has 3.55 gears, not sure about the previous. But he did go from a 4 speed tranny to the 6 which will make a difference too.
His travel trailer is pretty good size with 2 slide outs.

I traded a '95 Dodge V10 on my 2010 5.4l with 3.55, trlr pkg and big tow mirrors. The Dodge had a super torque curve and not bad horspower (300hp and 450#), so it was a pretty good tow vehicle, but not as stable on the road as I like. The F150 actually tows as well (despite torque and hp differences) with better mpg (if that's even a consideration). I am very pleased with the 5.4l, even though the truck/car mags made it a habit to put it down.

Still can't figure out how to put images on here, since they are on my computer and not on a phone

I want to see more TT's...can we get back on topic, lol. I came in here for two days to keep getting ideas and the thread turned to "well my 3.7L tows as awesome as a class A semi". Not directed at anyone in particular...but throw some PM's.

I just want to see some TT's.

The 5.0L has 275 lb. ft. of torque at 2700 rpm at the rear wheel which is 86% of peak and hits peak torque at 4300 rpm. The rear wheel HP at the peak torque rpm is 275.

The 5.4L has 268 lb. ft. of torque at 2700 rpm at the rear wheel which is 89% of peak and hits peak torque at 3700 rpm. The rear wheel HP at the peak torque rpm is 210.

Based on these numbers, I would expect the 5.0 to perform the same at low rpm take off as the 5.4 and better at higher rpm. Ford has always built their engines with a large %age of torque at lower rpm's. We will see.

Back to the topic, I will post pics of the new truck and camper when I get it!
