I had an 08 150 with a fifth wheel 30' and only kept the truck about 10 months and went to the 350 then upgraded the 5er, but due to life and changes I decided to go back to a half ton and travel trailer but I sure am second guessing my decision

Well my first test ride I was white knuckled, the trailer was all over the rode, supposedly the rvdealer has set up the W.D. hitch and sway bar but I could not go over 80k (50mph) I went back to the rv dealer and he just said that's the nature of the beast they don't tow like a fifth wheel. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks
There's no way that should be happening. Go to another dealer or set up the hitch yourself. I've towed a 30' TT with an 07' F150 and now a 37' TT with a 13' and have had nothing but great experiences with both once the hitch is set up properly

I have basically the same setup as that, and I have no sway, it's actually nice to drive, my rig is a 2012 fx4 pulling a Springdale 267, bumper to hitch is 29ft bunk is 26 1/2', I'm 150 lbs under my weight limit fully loaded and it tracks nice, you know it's there but no problems. Set up your hitch yourself its worth it, I set mine so my trailer is nose down about 1" and the truck rear drop is 1.5" and front was 1/2" drop, I'm running a standard Reese 1200lbs round bar WDH, I do have 2 friction sway controls for the windy days but have yet to use them. Hope this helps.

I have the F150 with the 5.0 tow package, my TT is 6430 dry. I also have the weight distribution bars, it has a little sway but I have no problem keeping up with traffic at 65mph you may want to talk to the service manager. Also with all hooked up is truck and TT level?

I have a 25' fiver now but used to have a 25' foot travel trailer. I towed the TT with several different vehicles so had to set up the WD hitch for each new vehicle.
I would start off by measuring the tow vehicle hieght unhitched and then adust the hitch to get it as close as possible with a little bias, about 1", towards the rear and take a test drive.
My antisway control was a Reese friction bar type that worked very well but winds over 30 mph or two lane roads with lots of trucks going the opposite way could be exicting. I did cross the Tappen Zee bridge in NY with 40 mph cross winds.
1978 Prowler 25' 5000 lb 515 lb tongue weight. Reese twin bar WD hitch with friction bar sway.
My fifth wheeler weighs about the same but it tows much easier with no sway.
1991 Salem 25' 4500 lb 800 lb pin weight.
Regards

Canuk13 ... Husky Sway Control Bar web page says any trailer over 24 needs 2 bars. If your RV dealer did not install 2, he does keep informed. and I am being nice!
