Word to the wise, make sure your water heater has water in it before flipping the electric breaker I hooked up water finally because it's above freezing and I flipped the shut off to fill the water heater, then I flipped the breaker, little too quick.
$10 for a new element and I'm an idiot

I feel your pain murf... During winter camping when we use our water system we have to flush and winterize after every trip. In my previous TT after pulling the anode rod I accidentally hit the WH electric switch when putting it inside the cover door when the WH was empty. Ooops.
Damn the factory electric element is BLOODY tight from the factory. . At least I now have the tool to remove it.

I'm betting my uncle did it before me because it was easy to get out and he had a wrench left in the cubby. Also the one I replaced was the same element I got from Lowes. I read somewhere they have elements you can power up for 2 hours before they burn themselves out without water. But I'll just write a note on the Breaker Box

TTs have a pin weight of about 10-15%, if the trailler weights 8000lbs chances are the pin weights 1000lbs. A truck with 7700lbs (7350GVWR) tow rating has about 1300lbs usable payload. That leaves 300lbs for the driver, passengers and everthing else (including hitch and accessories)
Happy camping all...
