I think the fire wood issue is also over controlling invasive species such as the ash bore

It is strongly recommended not to move wood from one location to another, and to avoid risk of introducing invasive pests:

Many campgrounds use this well-intentioned advisory as an excuse to charge exhorbitant fees for their firewood instead.

I find it goofy because I have 100 acres across the state and all counties in WI are "quarantined" so I wrote an email to our "Firewood Warden" asking him if I could bring wood for home burning from my land. He wrote back saying sure you can, the rule is you cannot move firewood across state lines or between a quarantined county to a non quarantined. So since Wisconsin is completely quarantined you can technically move firewood throughout the state.

Don't tell that to the campgrounds though, they'll still make you pay $10 a bundle of 6 pieces!

Local state campground where I go they actually give you free wood! Granted is not enough for all day but if the campground isn't full and you flirt with the ranger girl that delivers it you can get extra wood, bada BOOM! Double meaning folks!

I do NOT move firewood. Period.

The firewood in the back of my truck came from a local source to the park. I ALWAYS buy my firewood local and near the park in question. I just don't buy from the park itself because it is often of poor quality and significantly overpriced.

In this case it is from a vendor about 2 miles from the front park gate. It is local firewood and he heats his own home with it. He sells some on the side to a select few of us who know him.

I trust that clears it up.

But no, nothing like 25 miles rule.
Not in Ontario Provincial parks. There are strict rules about bringing in firewood from outside the local area. They do not prevent you from bringing in your own firewood, but they do question where it came from. Of course enforcing this is dicey at best because if ANY firewood came in from outside the park there is no real way to prove where it came from.

I have camped in quite a few parks outside of Ontario where they are much more strict about outside firewood period.
