Picked up this jewel off of Craigslist, used it a week.. Already think I want to go bigger. Book says max towing 7700# with 3:55 gears.. If I had 3:73 then it goes up to 9300#. I think I'll look into a bigger camper and pull it awhile and see if I need to pony up and regear.

Read up on payload ratings and how they dictate actual towing numbers, that is the main factor in your overall tow rating. You have to ignore the 'max tow rating' that Ford gives, they really are meaningless, as there are way too many independent variables. Mainly payload and tongue weight, which will vary truck to truck and trailer to trailer. You would be surprised how much the payload can vary over the lineup of f150s. The more higher end model, more options, more doors, 4x4, etc, all decrease payload. And of course, gears won't increase your payload. Regardless, great looking rig you've got there, enjoy it

First time hauling with my new F250, I've had 3 F150's and loved everyone of them. But it's way nicer and peace of mind towing heavier loads with the F250. My parents followed us up to Shaver Lake Ca with Their 21' 5th wheel in their Eco F150. It's a pretty good climb up the hill for a long way and every time I looked in the mirror my parents were right on my butt lol. He used a lot more gas but had no problem keeping up with me & he doesn't even have the max tow package. Gotta love them F150's

I just got back from a 6 day roadie from AZ to SanDiego....pulling my Springdale 29RK1SSR. ...loaded+, around 8k+...2 adults, 1 teen, 3 dogs, coolers, cloths, etc...And I absolutely loved how it pulled and handled that trailer! Mine did 12.2 round trip.

What size tank do you have on the F250.....and what did it cost to fill her up?
My Boost has the 36 gal. tank, and costs about $120 to fill mine . I spent approximately $480 bucks on fuel for that trip .

I only have the 26, my 2012 F150 had the 36 which I liked a lot while towing. I paid around $74 dollars for 20 gallons @ $3.71 a gallon
