Our trailer combo is a Cougar 27SAB X-lite 5th wheel trailer- about 8000 lbs loaded. With a Seadoo GTX behind that, about 1,000 lbs.

I thought I always heard people say you had to have at least a 6.5' bed to pull a 5th wheel trailer...

Click on the 5th Wheel Towing link below in my signature for my long winded story including towing with a shorty. Pullrite builds an automatic sliding hitch, that sends the kingpin back as much as 22" when the truck turns, so the edges of the trailer do not touch the truck. With a 6.5, or 8 ft bed, a slider is not needed.

I have a Pullrite Superglide 12K, it's expensive. You could also install a pin extension which puts the trailer back a bit but not the connection point in the truck. With the 12K, I can turn almost 90 degrees without issue! Its pretty neat to watch the hitch head move when you turn.
