On Ford's website it says that the factory TBC only works if you have 4 and 7 wire plug and a receiver hitch factory installed. In searching thru the various write ups, there's a few guys that say that they only had the 4 wire at the back, but did have the 7 wires by the spare tire under the frame. ( that's what I have, I had 4 wires at the bumper, but when I traced it back I had all 7 wires at the connector by the spare.) Did the factory TBC really work for you. I have a 2010 F150 that's a Canadian XLT, so it doesn't have factory fog lights. I'm wondering if having all 7 wires means the TBC will work.

A 4x wire is simply for L/R turn, marker lamp and grnd, nothing more. The extra 3x wires on the round 7pin include power to brakes, reverse light and power to the trailer battery.
