Leaf Spring Ratings 2009 - 2014 Did they change?
Had a 2009 Platinum 4x4 to haul a Jeep Rock Crawler on a Featherlite Trailer. Combination weighs about 6,200lb. Truck never sagged and the 5.4 was a great engine. Did not have Max Tow package (but everything else like trailer brake controller...)
Just bought a 2014 Platinum w/EcoBoost and with same setup the headlights are blinding people and makes the tongue so low could not put on the front wheel on the trailer without a jack. With only 2 weeks from purchase just installed Firestone air bags to level out the ride so should be OK.
Did Ford change the spec on the springs in the rear making them softer -- maybe for better ride? Both trucks have similar ratings but the 2009 was stouter. EcoBoost pulls well and like the truck, but surprised / curious.
