The 6.2 is definitely a beast, however you will for sure want to add an exhaust. I was disappointed with how it sounded stock, could barely tell there was a V8 under the hood. But add a Magnaflow and Resonator delete and she wakes right up.

I'd also strongly recommend a tune. The stock set up has a lag in throttle response. 5 Star tuning is what I have, really makes the throttle a lot more responsive, push the pedal and go, no lag.
Enjoy your new truck!

Here's my baby....

Congrats on the new truck! Hope it tows as well as you want it to. If it doesnt, look into a diesel. Once you go diesel you wont go back if you tow much. I love knowing I can hook up to damn near anything and pull it without much issue. But with 8,000 lbs you should be fine with the gasser.
Post pics of your truck when you get it. That 6.2 with a good exhust system sounds mean as hell. My neighbor has a raptor with some work done and it sounds amazing. I dont know what all is done to it but when he gets on it itll rattle the windows in my house. Probably pisses off the other neighbors but i dont mind. Makes my 5.0 a little sad, haha.

I have 2 of these trucks with 6.2's like i said. Here is the other one.

It's tinted now ( so is my blue one since the pics) and the white one has red and black badges and whatnot. The white one is a max tow with 3.73's. In Canada max tow doesn't mean tow mirrors... but state side it does. So I would check axle ratio when you get yours as if it's standard mirrors it's probably 3.55. Both trucks have MBRP 3.5" exhaust and a tune... the fx4 has an AFE intake as well and I just ordered a set of stainless works long tube headers for it. I really like this engine... it's just fun to drive... empty or loaded.

Yup, ok, that is my favourite truck on this forum.

Thank you. I will post it with new pics one of these years. It has black background red lettered emblems on the front, back wheels and steering wheel. Tint all around..... Raptor third brake light........ and soon to get a 6.2L badge in black and red from a Raptor down in the bottom right hand corner of the tailgate!

I cannot speak for the 6.2 but the engine is borrowed from the F250 so it should be a top level performer....better than my 5.0 which, for power, out pulls my old duramax diesel.

I would leave it alone for about 10,000km. Get to know what you like and what you do not like. I also found that at 10,000 km the engine seems to really perk up. I cannot confirm any sort of 'break in' tune but it sure felt like it....We are now at 40,000 km and the engine and transmission never worked better. Virtually all of the engine and transmission issues that I used to have are now long gone.

My mods will be with the truck and so far it's a RAS unit with 1" rear lift, (stop spring wind up), 1"-1 1/2" front lift kit (to level it back to stock), replace tires with 1 higher profile (raise truck, protect rim), replace leaf pack 'pad' with 1/2" urethane pads (stop spring slap), sintered brakes (better stopping), manufacture box step similar to Chevy but below bumper (also acts like a rear smash bar), install Ecoboost license plate holder(better cooling), install front smash bar (hulk says smash), install fender flares and widen stance 1"-1 1/2" (widening kit).

As you can see I am very happy with the engine towing 6000lbs but the truck could use a little 'tune' or as one friend called it a 'rub'.....nothing serious just a little touch here and there. Your truck should have most or this covered because it came with the 6.2 package (HD everything).

There is no break in tune... the pcm has one tuning set to use. Stuff does get significantly easier to turn with time and miles plus adaptives that tune within reason to driving style. That's your power gain.

That said.... tune it right away. I did with the Fx4 but not the XLT and really... i should have done the XLT right away too.

You have got to post some pics of her...I pretty much drove mine in a "normal" fashion once I took delivery. I was easy on her (with in reason) for the first 1,000 miles or so. Right out of the gate I was really happy with the gas mileage I was getting, especially after all the horror stories I was getting from the "other" crowd. But at that time, the 6.2 even wasn't available, so they were all assumptions. So I paid no attention to it. It gradually got better up to about 10,000 miles or so then it leveled off. I just took a look at my MPG spread sheet for 2011. My overall average MPG up to about 4/14/11 was about 15.3mpg. High was 18.5mpg and the low, not towing, was about 12.5mpg. That was up to 5,400 miles. From 5,400 miles to 10,200 miles my average highway MPG was 17.7mpg, with a high of 19.45mpg. Low stayed around 12.7mpg. After I did the intake and exhaust system the averages went up 1.5-2mpg. Of course, this is with driving in a "civil" manor. At the moment, my overall average MPG is about 16.2mpg. That includes my trips out to West Virginia, and local driving. I'm at about 51,000 miles on the odo.. So I think you should be happy overall with that bad boy...
