Info help needed....What is in a 2012 tow package?
Hi, and thanks for your help.
I have a 2012 F150 Supercrew short bed 2 wheel drive that states on the window sticker "Trailer Tow package" 7100#GVWR package
What does that include on the 2012?
It has a built in tow hitch/bumper bracket "V5" 10,500 with weight dis.
Also has a tow button on the end of the auto shifter.
Any other idea's what is included in the 2012 trailer tow Package?
Thanks again.

Take a look at the 2012 brochure:
http://www.ford.com/services/assets/...stalCode=17406
Scroll down to page 20 and you can see that the XL, STX, and XLT do not come standard with a tow pkg, and starting on page 21 you can see that pretty much all the higher trim levels have the tow pkg as standard.
When you get to page 23 and start reading about the optional features, you can read about the optional tow pkg:
I believe that even if you ordered the tow pkg, the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller was a separate option on the lower trim levels, but standard on most of the higher trim trucks.
It doesn't indicate that the tow pkg does anything to upgrade the suspension.
For that matter, it doesn't indicate that the MAX tow pkg does anything for increasing the weight hauling capability except for an "upgraded rear bumper" that increases the WDH rating to 1150/11500. For instance, take a look at the Lariat options on page 26 to read about that.
And just above the max tow info is info about the "Heavy-Duty Payload Package", and that does indicate upgraded suspension components:
So....the tow pkg simply comes with the stuff in that first quote above, and depending on trim level may come with a TBC, or the TBC may need to have been ordered separately.

No, for 2012 model year the ITBC was not standard with any trim level, but it was included in the Max Tow Pkg. Without the Max Tow pkg, the ITBC was optional in all trim levels.

Right. The order guide and the brochure did not mention that the Max Tow pkg includes about 400 or 450 extra pounds of GVWR. An F-150 4x4 with the regular tow package might have GVWR of 7,200, but the identical truck with the Max Tow pkg had GVWR of 7,650.
