Default How is my payload possible

I have tried to figure out what tow package I have. My payload on the door is 2219#. I have a 5.0 w/3.31 locking dif. The sticker says I have the towing package, but nothing about an HD package. My GVWR is 6900#. Any ideas of what I have?

You don't mention body style. Is it a SuperCab 4x2?

6900 GVWR minus 2219 payload capacity = 4681 weight of the empty truck. That doesn't sound unreasonable for a 2015 SuperCab 5.0L 4x2 with the regular towing pkg.

Yes, it is a SuperCab 4x2.

You have the regular towing package that was part of the XLT 302A "luxury" package on your truck. The integrated trailer brake controller (ITBC) was also included in the 302A pkg, which gives you just about everything that's standard in a Lariat, including the regular trailer tow pkg, except the plastic-covered leather seat covers.

Sorry I didn't notice that 302A before my first reply.

Your tim pkg is what I wanted way back when I ordered my 99.5 F-250. I wanted a Lariat with cloth seats, but Ford offered that only in Canada. So I ordered an XLT and didn't get the other doo-dads that were in the Lariat but not available in the XLT. Darling Wife wanted a Lariat, so I drove that XLT for over 10 years with a sour wife beside me. So when I ordered my F-150, I ordered her Lariat with plastic-covered leather seats.

Thanks,
I went on the Build site and for the life of me could not come up with the combination that I had. They said it couldn't be done. This makes sense.

That's a great payload. My 2011 4x2 SCab FX2 had 2023#.
And you have a Lariat.
You'll probably find now that the rear GAWR will be limiting what you can tow.

Have you had a chance to weigh the front and rear axles separately?
Would be interested in comparing their base weights to their GAWRs.

You can no longer build a 2015 on Ford.com, but you can build an almost identical 2016. The only difference I saw at a quick glance is the trailer towing pkg is no longer part of the 302A pkg, but you can order it as a stand-alone pkg.

Here's one I just built on Ford.com:

Model
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
Your Configuration: 2016 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab, 6-1/2' Box, 6-Speed Automatic Electronic Transmission w/Tow/Haul Mode, 4X2, 3.31 Electronic Locking Axle Ratio
Pricing shown for ZIP code 98101 as of January 11, 2016 S2

ITBC was not part of 302a in 2015 either. At least it was not on mine as I do not have an ITBC. I do have the separate tow package listed on my window sticker.

You're right. I must have read something wrong, but re-reading the 2015 order guide, the only trailer towing stuff included with the 302A pkg were the receiver hitch and wiring harness/trailer connector. ITBC and the regular towing pkg were both additional options when you ordered the 302A pkg on a 2015 F-150 XLT.

I did add the brake controller. Trust me, I'm not complaining. But when I see the payload of others, it makes me wonder if I have the HD package with heavier suspension.
