How much can I tow? (new to trucks)
#11
Here's my take on this. Since you are only doing this a couple times a year why not make two trips and not have to worry about all of the numbers? You also don't have to worry about wear an tear on the liner or bed with a load of loose gravel.

How much towing have you done?
If you have little towing experience, I'd suggest making 2 trips with the trailer loaded lightly (3000#ish) get a feel for pulling and stopping the weight back there. If you own the trailer and can use it anytime, then use it when you can. You don't want to load up with 8k pounds then have no idea what to do with it.

Thanks all! I have not done much towing just little here are there and never with anything above 2500lbs (which is what my old suv could handle)
I will play safe and may be continue to rent the dump truck that i have used for last two years......but its good to know what your truck can and cannot do for you.
Thanks all for replies here, this was a good learning experience.
