As far as towing, I'll be pulling our Boy Scout troop's enclosed trailer for the first time this weekend. It's a single axle type and the box is about 11' long. We load it to the roof with all the camp gear then load the bed with personal backpacks and kitchen tents. Shouldn't weigh more than 3,000 lbs total, plus me and four scouts in my '07 FX2 Scab, 5.4l, 3:55 rear and 18" wheels. Manual says max trailer weight is 8,100 lbs so this should be a breeze.
Thing I need to figure is how much drop do I need in a towbar as the rear of my truck is several inches higher than the Ram 1500 that usually pulls the trailer.
Maybe 3" and I don't expect it to level out. I go 270lbs and standing on the rear bumper sags the rear by only 2 inches or so.
Weekender.
